The Istria County coronavirus response team on Tuesday called on the people who had arrived in Croatia, either directly or on a layover flight, from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe since 19 November, to get tested.

According to a press release, those travellers are invited to get tested for the purpose of an early detection of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, regardless of whether or not they were showing symptoms.

“We are monitoring the situation in the surrounding area, which is not good, and therefore we want to eliminate any possibility of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus emerging in Istria,” the Covid-19 response team said.
