After conducting 1,587 tests in the last 24 hours, Slovenia on Wednesday reported 139 new Covid-19 cases, less than on Tuesday when it logged the highest number of new infections this summer (191), and the government remained concerned about the vaccination rate.

The share of positive cases is 8.7%, which is significantly higher than a week ago. A total of 30 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, including eight in intensive care.

The seven-day average of daily infections has increased to 108, and the 14-day incidence rose by 2.4% to 58. There were no new Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

So far, 38.7% of the population have received the necessary number of vaccine doses, which is too little for protection against the more contagious Delta variant and a calm autumn, the government  warned.
