Addressing the Economist's virtual conference on the European recovery fund and Croatia's transition, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday that 9.3% of the adult population in the country had to date been vaccinated against COVID-19.

In his speech he commented on endeavours to provide the country with enough supplies of COVID-19 vaccines, and said that as soon as first vaccines were developed, Croatia had been among those countries that pre-ordered higher amounts of AstraZeneca doses than other types of coronavirus jabs.

However, delays in the production and delivery of that company’s vaccine have resulted in delays in the vaccine roll-out in Croatia, he admitted.

Now we are now trying to find different ways to offset this gap in the delivery of vaccines, Plenkovic told the conference.
