The city's health authorities on Tuesday organised mass inoculation for 4,500 residents with Pfizer shots at the Zagreb Fair (ZV) grounds.

However, many of those invited for inoculation arrived at the ZV compounds before their scheduled appointment, which caused long queues outside the centre, the director of the Public Health Teaching Institute, Zvonimir Sostar, said.

“There is no need for anyone to come earlier than their appointment and then have to wait. There are sufficient vaccines and everyone who has an appointment today will be inoculated. They need to arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointment and not two hours ahead of it,” Sostar said.

According to Sostar, the plan is to inoculate 4,500 Zagreb residents each day in the next few days with the Pfizer vaccine. There are still 6,000 AstraZeneca doses.

Association of family doctors pushes for only one mass-vaccination site

Inoculation will be exclusively conducted at the Zagreb Fair.

“Last week, we delivered vaccines to general practitioners who said they wished to inoculate their patients in their offices, however, the association of family doctors has asked that in future inoculation be conducted at the one mega-location and we have granted its request,” said Sostar.
