Some 213,000 tourists are currently staying in Croatia, including 183,000 foreign and 30,000 domestic visitors, the country's tourism ministry said on Friday, citing figures from the eVisitor registration system, state agency Hina reported.

The largest number of overnight stays was generated by German tourists (over 50,000) and domestic tourists (over 30,000). They were followed by tourists from Slovenia (nearly 27,000), Austria (26,000), Poland (17,000) and the Czech Republic (over 16,000).

Hina did not cite the period this information applies to, nor any comparison with previous tourist seasons, or other popular tourist destination countries in 2021.

“The most overnight stays were registered in Istria (over 70,000), ahead of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (43,000) and Split-Dalmatia County (over 34,000),” Hina said, citing the ministry.

“This is confirmation that tourists see Croatia as a safe holiday destination. We have ensured all the conditions for this, and observance of the epidemiological measures in place is still key to maintaining the favorable epidemiological situation and achieving a successful season,” Hina quoted Tourism Minister, Nikolina Brnjac, as saying.
