The epidemiological situation in Croatia is stable, with 1,741 new coronavirus cases recorded in the last 24 hours and over 919,000 people vaccinated to date, Health Minister Vili Beros said on Friday.

“Fewer than 1,900 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised and 215 of them are on ventilators. More than 919,000 people have been vaccinated, but we should not relax because 24 patients were put on ventilators and 40 people died in the past 24 hours,” Beros said during a visit to Split where he presented reforms and investments in the healthcare system envisaged by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026.

“Vaccination is the most powerful tool and if we reach a certain vaccination rate, we can expect the virus to give up at one point,” the minister added.

He also commented on today’s appointment of the acting director of the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Zagreb, saying that the new acting director, Zoran Vatavuk, was a competent and professional person who would successfully address the challenges faced by that institution.
