The Ministry of Agriculture has said that it will conduct preventative vaccination and treatment of animals in earthquake-hit areas, which will cost about HRK 9.5 million and be financed from the state budget.

The ministry said in a press release that due to the circumstances caused by the natural disaster, vaccination and treatment of animals will be conducted in local government units in Sisak-Moslavina County which was struck by a devastating earthquake on 29 December.

“The expected cost of both measures is HRK 9.5 million and will be covered with budget funds,” the ministry said.

Due to the significantly deteriorated socio-economic status of citizens in that area and with the aim of preventing economic damage in the sector of primary production as well as protecting public health, the cost of the vaccination and treatment will be entirely covered from the state budget, the ministry said.

The cost of vaccination amounts to HRK 6 million while the cost of treatment amounts to HRK 3.5 million.

Animals in the area will receive veterinary treatment free of charge until 31 March.

These services will also apply to large animals from Sisak-Moslavina County that have temporarily been relocated to other parts of Croatia, the ministry said.
