A fire that broke out around 2 pm on Friday in the residence of the Croatian Ambassador in Belgrade, Serbia, was not caused deliberately, the Croatian state news agency Hina learned from an embassy source.

However, the causes of the fire are still unknown and an investigation will be underway once the firefighters have put it out completely.

No injuries were reported in the fire which caught the attic and part of the roof of the residence of the Croatian Ambassador to Serbia, Hidajet Biscevic, who spoke to N1 at 3 pm, saying that the firefighters had been struggling for an hour to put the fire under control.

“This is serious. Thankfully neither my wife nor I were at home at the time. We still don’t know what caused it,” Biscevic said.

Six fire-fighting vehicles and 21 firefighters are on the scene, and the fire has been localised, the Serbian Interior Ministry reported.
