In February 2021, a total of 1.5 million people in Croatia were in employment, or 0.6 percent down from January 2021 and 2.2 percent down from February 2020, state statistics bureau said on Friday.
A total of 1.3 million people were employed in companies and businesses, down by 0.7 percent month-on-month and 2.4 percent year-on-year. Some 182,000 people were self-employed, a decrease of 0.2 percent from January 2021 and 0.9 percent from February 2020.
At the same time, data provided by the state employment bureau HZZ showed a total of 162,386 job-seekers registered with the HZZ at the end of February, a decrease of 1.8 percent from January 2021 and an increase of 17.7 percent compared with February 2020.
The registered unemployment rate – the ratio of unemployed persons in proportion to the total active population – was 9.7 percent in February, down by 0.1 percentage point from January.
