Croatia’s January 2022 foreign trade stats: Exports 44 pct up, imports 44 pct up

Croatia's January 2022 exports totaled €1.6 billion, a whopping 44.1 percent increase year-on-year, with imports also jumping by 44.4 percent to €2.5 billion, state agency Hina said on Friday, citing a report released by the state statistics bureau.

The trade deficit in January 2022 was €874.6 million.

The value of exports to other EU countries was €1.2 billion, a 50.8 percent jump year-on-year, while imports from the EU rose by 27.8 percent to €1.8 billion. Exports to non-EU, i.e. third countries went up by 28.6 percent to €439.7 million, while imports from these countries increased by 117.6 percent to €697.9 million.

The statistics bureau also released foreign trade figures for the entire twelve-month span of 2021, which showed that Croatia’s exports in 2021 were €19.1 billion, increasing by 28.2 percent year-on-year, while imports increased by 23.5 percent to €28.3 billion. The trade deficit was €9.2 billion.
