In the past 24 hours 941 coronavirus cases and six related deaths were recorded in Slovenia, the Health Ministry said on Friday, and although infections have stabilized, the country is the only EU member state in the dark red zone due to a high incidence rate.

In the past 24 hours, 17.2% of the 5,471 tests came back positive. There are 404 hospitalized patients, including 104 in intensive care.

The 14-day incidence rate is 649 per 100,000 population. Despite the stagnation in new infections, epidemiologists expect a rise in both new cases and hospitalizations soon.

The seven-day infection average dropped to 933 in one day, prompting the government to revoke the rule under which Covid certificates were required for petrol station customers.

Slovenia has fully vaccinated 46.6% of the population, including 55% of adults.
