Coronavirus: Slovenia reports 2,631 new cases, 10 deaths

Slovenia on Thursday confirmed 2,631 new coronavirus cases and 10 related deaths over the last 24 hours.

Out of 7,315 PCR tests taken in the past 24 hours, 2,631 – or 36 percent – were positive. On Wednesday the country had logged a record 3,166 new cases and a test positivity rate of 38 percent.

The occupancy of Covid-designated units in Slovenia’s hospitals is currently at 92 percent. Health Minister, Janez Poklukar, ordered an increase in hospital beds reserved for Covid patients from 390 to 428, particularly in intensive care units “where the situation is critical.”

According to official data, Slovenia currently has 23,748 active cases. The 14-day incidence rate is 1,125 per 100,000 population.

In the past 24 hours, 87 new patients have been hospitalized and 56 have been released, and currently there are 547 Covid patients in hospital care. This includes 131 people in intensive care units.
