Over the last 24 hours, Croatia's health authorities recorded 4,571 new cases of Covid-19 and 26 Covid-related deaths, the national coronavirus task force said on Wednesday. This is the second-highest daily case count on record, close to the all-time peak in infections in December 2020.

A total of 13,083 coronavirus tests have been done over the last 24 hours, with a 35 percent positivity rate. The total death toll to date now stands at 9,116.

Currently there are 20,645 active cases in the country. These include 1,207 people receiving hospital treatment, including 153 patients placed on ventilators.

Since the first registered case of Covid-19 in Croatia on 25 February 2020, a total of 3,061,318 tests have been conducted, with 453,936 people – or 11 percent of the country’s total 4m population – contracting the virus.

Meanwhile, some 3.57 million vaccine doses have been administered, and to date 52.7 percent of the country’s 3.3m adults have fully been vaccinated.
