Croatian Institute of Public Health director Krunoslav Capak said on Tuesday the current nine-month validity of Covid certificates would most likely be extended.

He also said the European Medicines Agency had still not taken a position on a third vaccine dose, but that Croatia’s health system was prepared to administer it to people who were vaccinated more than eight months ago, if necessary, in which case it would be Pfizer.

Speaking on Nova TV, Capak said a decision on when the third dose could be administered would be made after EMA’s evaluation, adding that it would most likely be given to those with weakened immune systems.

He went on to say that the national Covid-19 crisis management team had begun in June talks on a broader use of Covid certificates, for example in social care, but that for now they would be mandatory only in healthcare.

Capak said testing for medical workers who were not vaccinated, twice a week, would be free, probably for a month, after which they would have to pay for it.
