Average take-home pay in September up 2 pct y-o-y

The average net wage in legal entities in Croatia in September 2021 amounted to HRK 7,108 (€948), which is 5.4% higher in nominal terms and 2% more in real terms compared to September 2020, the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported on Friday.

Compared to August, the average take-home pay in September was 0.1% lower in nominal terms and 1.1% lower in real terms.

The highest average net wage in legal entities in September was paid in IT services, HRK 10,802, while the lowest was in clothing manufacturing, HRK 4,472.

The average gross wage in legal entities in September was HRK 9,549, a nominal increase of 4.0% and a real increase of 0.7% compared to September 2020.

Compared to the previous month, the average gross pay was 0.6% lower in nominal terms and 1.6% lower in real terms.

From the start of the year until the end of September 2021 the average take-home pay in legal entities amounted to HRK 7,088 which was an increase of 5.4% in nominal terms and 3.5% in real terms, on the year.

In that period the average gross wage in legal entities amounted to HRK 9,539 which was an increase of 3.9% in nominal terms and 2.1% in real terms, on the year.

The average net hourly wage in September was HRK 39.94, the same as in August but 5.3% more on the year while the gross hourly wage was HRK 53.66 or 0.5% less than in August and 4% more than in September 2020.

According to DZS data, the median net pay in September was HRK 6,017, which means that half of the people employed earned wages below that amount and half earned wages above that amount. The median gross wage amounted to HRK 7,818.
