Germany takes over CoE Committee of Ministers presidency

Germany is taking over from Greece today the six-month chairmanship of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, the German Embassy to Croatia said on Wednesday.

The German presidency will focus on strengthening multilateralism and a rule-based international order.

Germany wants to strengthen the Council of Europe as the central pillar of multilateral cooperation in Europe.

The German presidency will also focus on the rule of law, human rights, democracy, the effects of Covid-19, including domestic violence, hate speech, ethnic minorities, notably Roma, sexual and gender minorities, youth, environmental protection, and racism.
