Car sales over 10 months plunge 43 pct

New car sales in Croatia in the first ten months of 2020 dropped 43.4% on the year, the Promocija Plus market research agency said on Friday.

In said period, 31,350 new passenger cars were sold. In October alone, 3,093 were sold, down 24.6% on the year, whereas month on month only three less cars were sold.

The most popular brand in the first ten months of 2020 was Volkswagen, with 5,046 cars sold and a 16.1% market share, followed by Skoda with 4,312 cars sold and 13.8% of the market, and Renault with 2,706 cars sold and a 8.6% market share.

In the first ten months of 2020, 56% of buyers opted for a new petrol-fuelled car, while 35% bought diesel cars, 6% bought hybrids, 2% bought gas vehicles and 1% bought electric vehicles.
