This year the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) will exceed its planned production of 5.43 billion kilowatt hours of electricity by 1-2%, NEK Management Board chair Stane Rozman said at a news conference that was also attended by Sasa Medakovic, the new Croatian member of the NEK Management Board of NEK.

On November 2 Medakovic succeeded Hrvoje Perharic in the position of the Croatian member of the plant’s management and Perharic retired.

Medakovic previously served as a member of the management board of the Fund for the financing of the management of NEK’s radioactive waste and used nuclear fuel.

NEK is owned by the Slovenian GEN Energija company and Croatia’s state-owned HEP power provider, and NEK’s two-member management board consists of a Slovenian chair and a Croatian member.

Rozman said that this year NEK had operated stably and successfully and that he expected it to produce 5.95 billion kWh of electricity.

He noted that NEK was ranked one of the most reputable nuclear power plants following a safety inspection by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).
