The sentiment in the Croatian economy worsened in October, owing primarily to significant pessimism in the industry sector, and a decrease was also recorded in the EU and the euro area, shows the European Commissions's regular monthly report released on Wednesday.

Croatia’s Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) in October is 1.4 points lower than the indicator for September, and stands at 113.3 points. In September it was up by four points, according to Eurostat.

Expectations in September worsened the most in the industry sector, by 2.9 points to 5.3 points.

Downward trend in EU continuing

At the EU level, the ESI dropped by 0.9 points to 99 points. It thus continued a downward trend that started in June, shows the report.

Climate additionally worsens in euro area

The ESI in the euro area was down 0.9 points in October to 100.8 points. The euro area thus recorded a decline for the second consecutive month.
