A HRK 250 million (€34 million) agreement was signed on Friday to upgrade non-structural measures in flood risk management in Croatia and eighty-five percent of the cost of the project will be covered by the European Union.

The agreement was signed by Environment and Energy Minister Tomislav Coric and the CEO of the Hrvatske Vode water management company, Zoran Djurokovic, on the occasion of Croatian Waters Day and 143 years of organised water management in Croatia.

The project will enable establishing a flood forecasting and early warning system, updating data on river basins, watercourses and regulatory and protective water infrastructure, upgrading hydrological measuring stations, and purchasing equipment for more effective flood protection.
