Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic said on Friday that apart from investing into farms and manufacturing capacities, investments in high-quality agricultural machinery were also needed to enhance productivity.

Opening the sixth edition of the Osijek Farm Show, Minister Tolusic said that for instance, a few years ago, 200 tractors were sold in Croatia annually, and this number increased to about 1,200 in 2018. Furthermore, the number of tractors sold in Q1 this year rose by 50% compared to the corresponding period in 2018.

He ascribed the rise to the implementation of the measures from the Rural Development Programme.

The head of the association of sellers of agricultural machinery, Darko Aracic, informed the fair that the market was recovering. There are 37 exhibitors promoting top-notch agricultural machines at the Osijek show, Aracic added.

The exhibition will run through until Sunday.
