Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Friday that she was willing to make the first move and invite her Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenkovic to visit Serbia as political friction did not do anyone in the region any good.

“I’m open to talks, I hope we will arrange a bilateral meeting soon,” said Brnabic, who was attending a summit of 16 Central and Eastern European countries and China in Dubrovnik, when asked by Croatian reporters what had to happen for her to invite Plenkovic to pay an official visit to Serbia and vice versa because the two usually talk unofficially.

“Serbia is vitally interested in the region being better connected, more stable and safer,” she said.

Nobody in the region needs political friction because it does not benefit anyone, and the region needs investors, she said.

Asked who could be willing to make the first move, Brnabic showed initiative.

“It’s a good question. I’m willing to make the first move and I will definitely invite (Plenkovic),” said Brnabic, who said the Dubrovnik summit had been organised very well.
