Representatives of the employees of the Pula-based Uljanik dock, led by union leaders representing the ailing shipyard, travelled to Zagreb on Wednesday for talks with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic who is expected to receive them later this afternoon.

Late last week unionists invited President Grabar-Kitarovic to visit Uljanik and see for herself the workers’ agony,

“The government has clearly decided to resolve the Uljanik issue and yesterday’s arrests attest to that. Somebody finally must assume responsibility and make a final decision. I would like this solution to be positive for us, to be a solution with a restructuring programme and for our salaries to be paid out immediately,” the head of the striking committee, Boris Cerovac, told Hina before the departure for Zagreb.
