A Kosovo government commission has started preparations for a border demarcation with Serbia, the Serbian public broadcaster RTS reported on Monday.

Border Demarcation Commission chairman Shpejtim Bulliqi is reported to have said that documents are being gathered as part of the preparations to mark the border line with central Serbia. He is quoted as saying that he “sees no obstacle to marking the border line”.

“The commission’s preparations, gathering of documents and drafting of a strategy have been started at the request of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj. There are certain changes to the border lines which happened in certain periods but those changes are covered in documents and by political decisions,” he said. Bulliqi also chaired the commission in charge of the border demarcation with Montenegro.

Pristina media reported that possible border corrections could be discussed at the next meeting between Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels.
