The Croatian parliament confirmed the nomination of Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic as Deputy Prime Minister and Darko Horvat as Economy Minister, on Friday.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic put forward Tolusic and Horvat after the former Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Martina Dalic resigned amid an e-mail scandal which revealed correspondence between her and the consultants and lawyers who had worked on drafting the controversial Lex Agrokor bill in early 2017.

The candidates were approved by the parliament committee for the Constitution, standing orders, and the political system, as well as the committee for economy, after an hours-long session answering questions. The junior coalition partners had given their approval to the Prime Minister for the proposed changes earlier this week.

Darko Horvat, who served as Minister of Entrepreneurship and crafts in the previous government led by Tihomir Oreskovic from January to October 2016, was confirmed as the new Economy Minister with a 77 vote majority, with 11 MPs voting against his appointment.

Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolusic was confirmed as the new Deputy Prime Minister with a 77 vote majority, with 8 MPs voting against him.
