In an interview with four Croatian news agencies (RTL, state-owned HRT, Vecernji List daily, and Jutarnji List daily), the Prime Minister, Andrej Plenkovic, said there was no time for an alternative way of preparing the law on state-appointed emergency management, dubbed Lex Agrokor.

The news portal today published private email correspondence between the Economy Minister Martina Dalic and owners and CEOs of private-owned brokerages, consultancies, and law firms drawing uup specific provisions of the law.

“If we had a year or two, we could have formed two, three working groups and do comparative analyses of insolvency laws. But, we did not have that time,” Plenkovic said and repeated that Dalic had his full confidence.

“The company is operating, everyone kept their jobs, and the state has not given one kuna. From my perspective, the global goal was achieved. If we had had more time, everything would have been more transparend in the operative sense,” he said, adding that there was nothing new in Dalic’s leaked emails.

He said he was confident that the agreement between Agrokor and its creditors would be signed by the deadline on July 10, that the atmosphere around the talks gives him confidence that the agreement would be finalised, and that the situation with the leaked emails should not affect the stability of the government and the ruling majority.

“I see no reason for any of our partners to leave the government,” Plenkovic said.
