The Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ) said on Friday that due to the unplanned slower delivery of the coronavirus vaccine produced by Pfizer/BioNTech, the vaccination process will slow down in the next few weeks.

Therefore, until larger quantities of the vaccine are delivered, in accordance with the population’s needs, we must slow down the process of vaccination against COVID-19, the HZJZ said.

Pfizer’s vaccine Comirnaty will be arriving in reduced quantities in the coming weeks, which will most likely cause not only a delay in the start of vaccination but also a delay in the administration of the second dose of the vaccine, the HZJZ said

They stressed that administering the second dose of the Comirnaty vaccine after more than 21 days did not have a negative effect on the expected level of protection achieved by vaccination.

According to currently available information, we do not know when sufficient quantities of the vaccine will arrive in Croatia so that we could start to vaccinate a wider range of priority groups, the press release said.

As soon as we get that information, we will inform the public in a timely fashion via HZJZ’s website, it was said.
