Red Cross volunteers in the northwestern Bosnian town of Bihac and Una-Sana region have delivered Thursday morning warm meals for over 900 migrants at the Lipa camp, located outside the urban zone.

This is one of the two meals the migrants get per day.

“The situation is definitely better, owing to efforts of the Foreigners Affairs’ Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina and our police officers, who finally put things in order here. I must also mention significant assistance of non-governmental humanitarian organisations, and I hope the tents will be ready soon,” said Selam Midzic, the Secretary of Bihac City Red Cross.

Twenty tents recently installed by Bosnian Armed Forces members are about to accept some 900 migrants who were left in the open, often at sub-zero temperatures after the migrant camp at this location previously managed by the International Organisation for Migrations closed down.

After the state authorities’ plan to move the migrants back to the former Bira camp, in Bihac’s central part, failed under the pressure of local authorities and citizens, they sent the Armed Forces’ special tents to the location, securing a new shelter for hundreds of migrants stranded in this part of the country.
