US organisation for luxury travel Virtuoso has recorded a 28 percent demand increase among their customers for Croatia, which ranks among the top ten fastest growing travel destinations in its annual survey, Croatia’s National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Thursday at a promotion at Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas which takes place on August 11-17.
The US is a very important market for Croatian tourism, recording double-digit growth rates annually, HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic said, adding that it was strategically important to intensify promotion on such a large market.
Good cooperation with large tour operators and networks such as Virtuoso, which has partners in over 50 countries, contributes to the positive trends, he added.
This year 373,000 Americans visited Croatia, up 23 percent on the year, registering nearly 1.1 million overnight stays, an increase of 18 percent. This put the US among the fastest growing markets for Croatian tourism.
Director of the HTZ's New York office Ina Rodin said Virtuoso put Croatia in its annual survey’s top ten destinations in three categories – fastest growing destinations, most popular destinations for millennials, and most popular international destinations.
