Srebrenica Memorial Centre presented its official video on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Centre said, adding that it was made both in Bosnian and English language for the local as well as the international young audience to get familiarised with key facts about the events that led to the slaughter of Bosniaks in this east-Bosnian town.

“In this one-minute video, we wanted to bring the historical context of the Srebrenica genocide to the young audience which is used to the fast acquisition of information. It's extremely important to note that all the materials we showed in public lately were the combined effort of photographers, cameramen, designers and editors who gave their materials for free and we are very grateful to them,” the centre said.

On July 11, 1995, Bosnian Serb forces overran the eastern Bosnian enclave and rounded up the town’s Muslim Bosniaks, separated men from women and little children and systematically executed over 8,000 men and boys.

The bodies of the victims were dumped into numerous mass graves in the area. Forensic experts excavated them and identified the bones through DNA analysis before returning the bodies to the families. Those rebury them every year on July 11 at the Memorial Centre’s cemetery.

Two international courts, the International Criminal Tribunal (ICTY) for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) later ruled that the massacre was an act of genocide.
