Kosovo’s Regional Operational Support Unit (ROSU) were deployed around the artificial lake and hydro-power plant Gazivode. The ROSU forces entered the Ecology and Sports Development Centre at Zubin Potok town near the power-plant. Shortly after, they left the area.

According to the Director of the Kosovo Office Marko Djurdjevic, ROSU apprehended the people who were there at the time, so that Kosovo President Hassim Thaci could walk around the area and take a couple of photos.

Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic ordered that the Army of Serbia be placed in the state of the highest combat readiness and Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic ordered the Director of Serbia’s Police to place all special police units in the state of highest alert.

"Serbia informed all the international institutions about the incident at Gazivode, but we haven’t received any response neither from the EU nor the NATO… Serbia also warned the official Pristina as well as the international community that it won’t tolerate any form of violence against Serbs," Djuric said, adding that Serbia will act in accordance with the UN Resolution 1244.

He stated that ROSU special forces armed with rifles and wearing masks were deployed at the Gazivode lake just so that Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his associates could go there, take a walk and take a couple of photos.

"In order to do this, they had to remove all the people standing in their way, they had to apprehend all the Serbs who were there at the time," Djuric said at a press conference. "They barged into the Ecology and Sports Centre where they apprehended people for no reason, with the aim of intimidating the Serbs living in Kosovo.”

Some 60 ROSU units left the area shortly after, and Kosovo’s Thaci said he was in a friendly visit to Gazivode, where he spent some 15 minutes.

KFOR, the NATO-led international peacekeeping force, responsible for establishing a secure environment in Kosovo, said they deployed their forces at the scene to investigate the situation, and confirmed that one local official was apprehended.
